Influence of sand tray play on emotional regulation ability; An insecure adult attachment mother¡¯s case study

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the emotional regulation ability of insecure adult attachment mother``s by sand tray play. The experimental group consists of 2 mothers with insecure attachment in a preliminary testing. Both mothers had children with insecure attachment in N Child-family counseling center located in Gyoungsangnamdo. The sand tray play is the counseling media, and McAdams¡¯ narrative psychology was applied. Each program lasted for 50 minutes, which includes making sand tray, listening, and cleaning. Moreover, the program was held once a week for 10 weeks. The results include the followings: Firstly, sand tray play reduced emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, depression in insecure adult attachment mother``s. Secondly, mothers with insecure adult attachment were led to the realization of their childhood experience``s meaningfulness through sand tray play, and small subject and eight subject-matter of the four sub-categories of 20 is extracted, accepted these realizations. Even though this study shows sand tray play has positive influence on insecure adult attachment mother``s, further study is required, since this case study only included a small number of experimental subjects.
